Inspection Technician

Range Technician/InspectorThe hourly rate for this position is $29.70 per hourThe Range Technician/Inspector position conducts proof firing tests on various weapon systems to evaluate performance to include complete disassembly and assembly of the weapons, adjustments, and recording of data. Follows established company directives, policies, military specifications, quality documents and manufacturing instructions.ResponsibilitiesPerform visual and manual examination, tests and adjustment. Places weapon in fixtures, mounts or may manually hold smaller calibers for test firing. Fires weapon specified number of times manually or by remote control to test its function. May perform mechanical adjustments, and repairs to items being tested and accessory equipment.Operates an electrical cart to transport weapons to ammunition.Coordinates closely with facility range master, engineering range master, plant safety supervisor, and DCMA personnel.Must be constantly aware of prescribed safety procedures such as restricted access of personnel, unobstructed exits from operating area, loading, firing, and clearing of weapons, ammunition handling, storage, and limitations, warning alarms, etc. Follows established checklists on emergency procedures and must be knowledgeable of fire extinguishing agents, classes of fire, and incipient stage firefighting techniques. Ensures good housekeeping procedures to eliminate potential safety and fire hazards on a daily basis.Some supervision required as to the mechanics of the job.Employee must have basic computer skills, and may be required to enter and verify information into written forms or database(s) as appropriate.Must be able to perform all tasks and duties of a Gunner #3. During slow periods, may be required to perform tasks of other equal or lower rated inspection classifications.All employees are expected to be in compliance with government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.May be required to perform other duties as required by supervision and follows instructions as directed.QualificationsEducation, Training, and/or Certifications:Required:High school diploma or G.E.D. required.Experience:Required:Employee must have basic computer skills and may be required to enter and verify information into written forms or database(s) as appropriate.Average eight (8) months. Includes over 4 months through 1 year.Required:Knowledge:Due to nature of work must be completely knowledgeable of operational safety procedures and comply with specified regulations.Requires comprehensive knowledge of theory and practice in both mechanical and electrical in order to understand and perform work of a complex technical nature.Knowledgeable of the various weapon systems produced, and ability to performing all of the required proof firing tests, is required.Skills:Must have a working knowledge of range operations, both mechanical and electrical, including such safeguards as checklist firing procedures, targeting devices, water traps, exhaust systems, etc.Reads and interprets blueprints, process directives, etc.Working Environment:Well-lighted, may be heated and air-conditioned. Extreme working conditions may be present.
