Staff Accountant

Position Summary


The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the daily accounting operations of Elevation Convening Center & Hotel by ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, processing payroll, reconciling accounts, andassisting with month-end and year-end close. This position works closely with all departments to maintain compliance with USALI, GAAP, company policies, and internal controls while supporting the overall financial health of the property.
General Accounting

• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close.
• Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
• Analyze financial transactions and investigate variances.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with USALI and GAAP standards.

Payroll

• Process bi-weekly payroll and payroll adjustments.
• Audit timecards, PTO, overtime, and labor allocations.
• Prepare payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll liabilities.
• Process manual checks, garnishments, and payroll corrections.
• Maintain payroll records while ensuring confidentiality.

Cash & Reconciliations

• Perform daily cash and bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile credit card settlements and merchant activity.
• Assist with cash flow reporting and forecasting.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

• Review invoice coding and approvals.
• Reconcile vendor statements and customer accounts.
• Assist with payment processing, billing, collections, and advance deposits.
• Support city ledger and guest ledger reconciliations.

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Follow established accounting policies and internal controls.
• Assist with internal and external audits.
• Protect confidential financial and payroll information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience; hospitality accounting preferred.
• Payroll processing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of USALI and GAAP preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with hotel accounting systems (Opera, Aptech, ADP, or similar) preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods and use a computer.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to move throughout the hotel as needed.

Performance Expectations


The Staff Accountant is expected to maintain accurate financial records, process payroll timely and accurately, meet all reporting deadlines, support internal controls, and contribute to the efficient operation of the Finance Department while providing exceptional internal customer service and upholding the values and standards of Elevation Convening Center & Hotel.
