About the team and position

Carvana's Infrastructure Development department is known for its team-oriented, fast-paced environment, driving a rapidly scaling, national portfolio of development projects. The Senior Construction Project Manager is responsible for managing the construction process from permitting through completion across a growing, multi-site portfolio. This role also owns keeping senior leadership current on cost, schedule, and risk across active projects.

This is a fully on-site position, Monday through Friday, at our corporate HQ in Tempe, Arizona.

What you'll be doing 

• Lead the construction process end-to-end, including: tracking permits, bid and contractor selection (including GC contract negotiations), and managing vendors and the internal procurement team. 
• Review and update progress and cost reports, schedules, and completion forecasts on a regular basis, using project management and reporting tools to give leadership real-time visibility across the portfolio.
• Partner with internal Development and Engineering teams to finalize design, identifying constructability issues prior to submission to the AHJ.
• Direct the activities of vendors/consultants as required for implementation, and help drive process standardization across a growing site network.
• Communicate with internal corporate leadership regarding schedules, company policies and procedures, permits, safety, sustainability, quality control, budget performance, and other performance standards.
• Participate in negotiating  contracts with external vendors to reach a mutual agreement
• Other duties as assigned.

What you should have/know

• 7+ years of experience in project management within real estate, construction, or a related capital-projects/program management field.
  • Multi Site Regional / National Experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent of professional experience.
• In-depth understanding of construction procedures and project management methodologies (e.g., PMI or similar frameworks a plus).
• Demonstrated experience with managing multiple, large, simultaneous construction projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience communicating project status directly to senior leadership or executive stakeholders, translating technical and field details into clear, decision-ready updates.
• Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Must be proactive, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Superior interpersonal skills, ability to interface with a variety of personalities with professionalism.
• Ability to leverage strong business acumen and understanding of Carvana business to prioritize and execute in accordance with what is both feasible and beneficial for the company.
• Must thrive in a fast-paced environment, with an entrepreneurial approach to project management and a commitment to team support.
• Able to help create, develop, and implement process improvement(s), including building reporting dashboards or KPIs to track performance.
• Experience with data analysis or reporting tools is a plus.
• Must promote the company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
• Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
• Must be proficient in MS Office and Adobe, and comfortable learning new project management/reporting platforms.
• Must be willing to travel as necessary (up to 50% of the time), primarily for site visits, vendor oversight, and stakeholder meetings.
