  The Opportunity 

Greenwich House Older Adult Centers is seeking a Financial Educator to provide financial education, financial wellness support, and light daily money management assistance to older adults in both individual and group settings. The Financial Educator will help older adults strengthen their financial literacy, understand available benefits and entitlements, manage everyday financial tasks, and increase their confidence and independence in making financial decisions.

The Financial Educator will facilitate engaging financial education classes, individual meetings, discussions, and Lunch & Learn presentations focused on financial wellness, financial literacy, financial empowerment, and the prevention of elder financial abuse. Through these programs, the Financial Educator will identify individual members who may benefit from additional financial support and work with them to assess needs and develop appropriate next steps.

The Financial Educator will work collaboratively with the Greenwich House Older Adult Network Directors, Social Work Team, and Daily Money Management Team to ensure that older adults receive appropriate financial education, referrals, benefits, entitlements, and community resources based on their individual needs.

Primary Responsibilities 

• Provide individual and group financial education to older adults on topics including financial wellness, financial literacy, financial empowerment, budgeting, benefits and entitlements, and prevention of elder financial abuse.
• Facilitate engaging classroom-based financial education programs, lectures, discussions, and Lunch & Learn presentations.
• Visit at least one Older Adult Center each month to present an engaging financial awareness or financial wellness topic to members.
• Develop relationships with community professionals and organizations and invite appropriate guest presenters to speak with members on topics related to financial awareness, financial wellness, benefits, and other relevant resources.
• Build trust and rapport with members through regular engagement, presentations, individual meetings, and ongoing financial education support.
• Bring awareness to available benefits and entitlements, including Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, SCRIE, Legal and other programs that may support the financial health, stability, and well-being of older adults.
• Assist clients with identifying and applying for appropriate benefits and entitlements
• Link clients to community resources and make referrals for more intensive case management when appropriate.
• Help identify opportunities for additional financial education programming based on the needs and interests of older adult members.
• Promote participation in financial education programs and activities throughout the Older Adult Centers.

  What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree required; MSW preferred.
• Experience working with older adults, social services, financial education, or case management.
• Willingness and confidence to present financial education topics to groups and engage older adults in lively discussions.
• Ability to build trust and strong relationships with members through consistent, respectful, and compassionate interactions.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide individual support and light case assistance.
• Knowledge of benefits and entitlements, or willingness to learn.
• Ability to work collaboratively with social work and program staff.
• Comfortable using technology and Canva to create program materials.

  Employment Details 

Location: Onsite, Center on the Square, 20 Washington Square North with one day a month at each site (25 Carmine/155 Bank Street/310 Greenwich Street) 

Schedule: 25 hours/week, Four Days a week, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM 

FLSA Classification: Non- Exempt 

Employment Type: Part-Time

Reports To: Director of Older Adult Network 

Union Representation: Non-Union

Salary Range 

The expected base salary/hourly rate for this position is $30,641.00 annually or $23.57 per hour based on experience. This range reflects the anticipated compensation at the time of this posting and may be adjusted based on experience, education, and organizational needs.
