CustodianThis level of knowledge is normally acquired through a high school education.Certification of good health signed by a licensed physician.Ability to read basic operating instructions.Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of the tasks assigned.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.Reports to: Head CustodianJob goal: To assist in the cleanliness and maintenance of the physical facility that will provide for a safe, clean and habitable environment.Performance responsibilities:Complete cleaning schedule for the areas assigned, within the frequency requirements provided.Lifting and moving tables, desks, and chairs weighing in excess of 50 pounds.Opens and closes school gymnasium bleachers. This activity involves bending over and pulling or pushing weights in excess of 50 pounds. Lifts cartons, boxes, and buckets weighing in excess of 60 pounds.Knows the schedule for all the assigned areas; look for ways in which to improve on the schedule.Possesses a basic understanding of the chemicals and processes used in the cleaning schedule.Maintain a positive attitude with all staff and students.Routinely inspect those areas outlined in the schedule for possible personnel and safety hazards and report to the Head Custodian.Observes cleaning and maintenance needs or requirements for the areas assigned and report these to the head custodian.Conduct such maintenance functions, which are assigned, within the knowledge and skill level as determined by the Head Custodian.Maintains cleaning and maintenance needs or requirements for the areas assigned and report these to the Head Custodian.Cleans floors, walls, furniture, and other building furnishings.Cleans and sanitizes restrooms.Operates scrubbers, buffers, waxers, and vacuums.Keeps equipment in working condition.Performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance functions as directed.Reports potential building and equipment repair/maintenance needs to the Head Custodian.Follows necessary safety procedures and precautions while performing all assigned job related tasks.Watches for safety hazards and guards against fire, theft, and illegal entry.Loads and unloads delivery vehicles when necessary.Performs such additional duties, which may be assigned by the Head Custodian in the assigned schedule.This description is intended to describe the type and level of work being performed by a person assigned to this job.
