Drug Discovery Resource Outsourcing Manager

Clinical-stage biotech company seeks a manager to coordinate drug discovery research outsourcing. The role involves triaging internal research requests, qualifying CRO partners in China, managing contracts, and serving as liaison between internal teams and external vendors. Requires scientific expertise in early-stage discovery and Mandarin fluency.
Responsibilities
- Serve as single intake point for internal research requests across discovery platforms
- Assess requests and recommend internal, external, or hybrid execution paths based on capacity and expertise
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify CRO vendors in China; maintain mapped vendor list by service category
- Draft, negotiate, and manage CDAs, MSAs, SOWs, and other contracting documents
- Act as day-to-day liaison with CRO partners; conduct meetings and correspondence in Mandarin
Requirements
- BS/MS in life sciences (biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, immunology, protein science, pharmacology, or related field)
- 5+ years biotech or pharma experience with hands-on early discovery R&D exposure
- Fluent Mandarin Chinese for scientific and business discussions with CRO partners
- Knowledge of protein expression, purification, assays, and biophysical characterization
- Experience with CRO vendor evaluation, contract negotiation, and compliance management
- Ability to assess technical feasibility and reconcile scope, timeline, and budget constraints
