Patent Engineer

Patent EngineerInsight Global is looking for a Patent Engineer to join an automotive client in Ypsilanti, MI. The person in this position will be responsible for identifying, developing, and protecting innovative technologies for future vehicles. They will work closely with engineers across all North American R&D departments to review and develop invention disclosure and guide them through the company's patent process. Additional responsibilities will include:Guide and support engineers through the patent process, from initial idea to issued patentReview inventions with engineers to help identify and develop high value concepts as neededCollaborate with inventors to create detailed invention disclosuresEvaluate invention patentability by performing prior art searches and researching related technologiesWork with patent attorneys and engineers to develop robust patent documentsTrain local staff on internal intellectual property process, facilitate sharing of best practicesFacilitate ideation and invention development workshopsInvention disclosure status tracking & reportingKeep current with automotive and technology news and trends for use in evaluating invention valueAnalyze patent data to identify trends and process improvement opportunitiesAssist in new feature and technology development through innovation activitiesCreate and present technical reports as necessaryPlan and monitor project budgetsCompensation: $30-33.30/hour. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
