IMPORTANT NOTES Job Description Code: 4O.025 Division/Department: School Leadership and Operations Pay Grade: Hourly Pay Type: Hourly Retirement: N/A Contract Work Year: 188 Days Reports To: Coordinator, Student Support Evaluation Instrument: PEI Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree or higher with proper certification in School Social Work, School Counseling, School Psychology, or a closely related field as required by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. Three (3) or more years of experience as an educator or school-based mental health professional. Experience providing school-based mental or behavioral health services to adolescents and knowledge of MTSS, attendance interventions, trauma-informed practices, and evidence-based mental health supports preferred. Hold valid Georgia Motor Vehicle operator’s license with endorsements compatible with assigned duties and an acceptable motor vehicle record as determined by the district. Strong collaboration, communication, and data-informed decision-making skills. GOAL The Part-Time Academic and Support Counselor provides academic, behavioral, and mental health services to students in grades 6–12. The position delivers Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support within the Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework and serves as a consistent trusted adult through a structured mentor program. This role supports the District and school-based initiatives focused on student attendance, engagement, behavioral health/well‑being, and removal of barriers to learning in alignment with grant requirements Representative Duties & Responsibilities Provide direct mental and behavioral health services at Tier 1 (universal), Tier 2 (targeted/small group), and Tier 3 (intensive/individualized), including crisis intervention as appropriate. Serve as a mentor for identified students. Monitor attendance, academic performance, and behavioral data to inform intervention planning. Develop and implement individualized academic and behavioral support plans. Coordinate tutoring, academic interventions and credit recovery support as needed. Address truancy concerns and assist in removing non‑academic barriers to learning. Collaborate with administrators, counselors, social workers, teachers and other staff to implement structured support. Engage parents/guardians in the intervention process in accordance with district policies and procedures. Provide case management services and referrals to appropriate community agencies. Utilize research‑based and evidence‑informed practices in service delivery. Maintain documentation and data required for grant compliance, program evaluation, and District/state reporting. Participate in professional learning, required meetings, and ongoing training related to the role. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, ethical standards, Board policies, and grant requirements. Maintain regular, predictable attendance and perform other duties as assigned. Complete all job assignments in a timely, accurate and professional fashion. Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.
