Risk Control Consultant Field - Houston, TX

Risk Control Consultant Provide the Underwriter with account knowledge as it relates to hazards, controls, and management. Evaluate how the company identifies and manages its inherent risk factors and differentiate the account from others in similar classes of business. Key Responsibilities Maintain a consistent field presence, spending 20%‑50% of the time onsite with customers. Travel to customers, including long‑distance, overnight, and multi‑night trips as needed. Partner and co‑owner with Underwriting to select, retain, and grow a profitable book of business. Build and maintain productive relationships with Underwriting, Claims, Risk Control Specialists, and Brokers to service customers as a unified team. Complete risk assessment evaluations for moderately complex accounts (e.g., small manufacturers, restaurants, educational institutions, medium distributors, auto dealers, moderately sized fleets). Write technically detailed reports that communicate a clear assessment of risk and effectively articulate recommendations. Discover and evaluate customer needs through loss analysis and readiness to provide Risk Control products and services that help control losses. Stay current with technical subject matters, regulatory environment, and emerging issues. Create a valued customer experience through each assessment and service encounter. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum education: High School or GED (Bachelor’s or graduate degree preferred). Three years of experience in safety, risk control/management, or a related field (e.g., occupational/environmental health, science, engineering, construction, manufacturing) or relevant military experience. Valid driver’s license. Must be, or be able to attain, appropriate certifications to meet state‑specific requirements (e.g., ASP, CSP, ARM, CFPS). Recognized certifications such as ASP, CSP, ARM, CFPS. Technical aptitude and detail oriented. Superior communication skills—written, verbal, listening. Ability to quickly establish credibility and rapport with clients. Self‑awareness, curiosity, critical thinking, proven work ethic, influencing skills.
