Clinical Specialist - Hematology/Oncology

Job Description

We're searching for a Clinical Specialist - Hematology/Oncology, someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will demonstrate theoretical and clinical expertise in the physical, psychosocial, developmental, and educational aspects of nursing care for specified patient populations and their families as outlined in the unit profiles. You'll work interdependently with and independently of the multi-disciplinary team. Scope of practice will include practitioner, educator, consultant, researcher, administrator, and change agent. The Clinical Specialist is dedicated to promoting optimal patient/family care with the goal of enhanced patient/family outcomes.\n

\nJob Duties & Responsibilities\n
\n
\n

\n
• Serves as an advanced clinical practitioner
\n
• Collaborates with the health care team to help plan, implement and evaluate the treatment approach using theoretical knowledge, sound judgment and problem-solving.
\n
• Acts as a clinical resource to staff and other members of the health care team seeking to improve quality and safety of patient care.
\n
• Provides consultative services to health care providers, patients, and families within the institution.
\n
• Utilized by the leadership team for expertise related to unit/system issues.
\n
• Assesses the learning needs of staff, family, and patients.
\n
• Facilitates the acquisition of knowledge through formal and informal teaching.
\n
• Consistently applies new knowledge relevant to pediatric nursing to clinical practice.
\n
• Participates in the efforts of the Quality Outcomes Program and/or unit-based quality initiatives by coordinating, developing, implementing, and monitoring quality initiatives that promote clinical outcomes and demonstrate nursing excellence.
\n
• Supports and facilitates the attainment of institutional goals and strategic plans.
\n

\nSkills & Requirements\n
\n
\n

\n
• Required master's degree in nursing
\n
• Required licenses/certifications in the following by Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact and American Heart Association:
\n
• RN - Lic-Registered Nurses
\n
• BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support
\n
• Required at least 4 years of experience in nursing for specified patient population
\n
• Pediatric Hematology/Oncology experience
\n
