Band saw operator / production assistant

A growing manufacturing company in Deer Park, NY is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Band Saw Operator to join a manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a metal-cutting band saw to prepare materials according to precise engineering drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate has an eye for detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to workshop safety. salary: $45,000 - $72,800 per year shift: First work hours: 7 AM - 3:30 PM education: High School Responsibilities Safely and efficiently operate a metal-cutting band saw to cut various metal parts and materials. Accurately measure and verify dimensions of finished parts against technical drawings and blueprints to ensure strict compliance with quality specs. Move, position, and stage raw materials and completed parts for production. Perform basic routine maintenance on sawing equipment (e.g., blade changes) and maintain a clean, organized work area. Proven experience operating a metal-cutting band saw or similar industrial cutting equipment. Ability to read, interpret, and work directly from manufacturing drawings and specifications. Math and measurement skills; proficiency with tools like tape measures, calipers, or micrometers. Prior experience operating a forklift is a plus (certification a bonus). Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment. A sharp eye for quality control to catch any defects or measurement errors early.
