Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 09/28/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Sep 28, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with strong vasoactive drip and telemetry skills for a night shift stepdown/ICCU position requiring a NC or compact license.Details\n \n ICU stepdown/ICCU unit with 20 beds and an average daily census of 18\n Target patient ratio of 1:3-4\n Patient population includes post rapid response, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, post-op GYN/GU/GI/thoracotomy/neuro/ortho surgeries, and pre/post OB with complications\n Patient population ranges from adolescent to geriatric\n 12-hour night shifts (18:45-07:15) on a 3x12 schedule\n Every other weekend required\n Floating required as needed to a sister ICCU unit\n No block scheduling; schedule created by nurse manager\n Only one pressor drip per patient allowed on unit; additional pressors require ICU transfer\n Uses Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Neo drips\n Bedside telemetry monitors with remote backup used on unit\n No ventilators on unit\n Uses Pyxis and Epic systems\n Requirements\n \n Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending license/certifications OK for consideration\n Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required\n Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required\n Experience with arterial line management and titrating vasoactive/cardiac drips required\n Experience with PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown and telemetry units required\n Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias\n Experience with Rapid Response/Code team protocols required\n Experience with IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, and heparin protocols required\n Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management experience required\n Experience managing chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and nasal cannula required\n Non-invasive airway management and tracheostomy care/management experience required\n Isolation precautions/PPE experience required\n IV start, telemetry monitoring, and conscious sedation experience required\n Epic charting experience preferred\n Must pass EKG testing prior to start\n Additional Information\n \n Monitor and treat cardiac dysrhythmias using bedside telemetry with remote backup\n Provide rapid response and stepdown-level care to a medically complex patient population\n One week of hospital orientation required with daily class attendance\n Navy, white, or a combination of navy and white scrubs required\n Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays\n No RTO permitted during first week of assignment; up to 7 days RTO auto-approved thereafter (excluding holidays)\n No additional RTO allowed after signing\n First-time travelers welcome to apply\n Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate\n Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying and disclose employment history for facility approval\n Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between per diem or travel contract status\n Travel pairs allowed if assigned to different units and disclosed at submission\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-754776.
