Pharmacy Technician

Help

Performs all operations associated with inpatient/outpatient pharmacy to include, evaluation of new prescriptions, proper strength and dosing, and appropriate patient instructions and medication quantity for course of therapy.

Regularly communicates with providers on any concerns regarding a prescription (allergy, cross-sensitivity, contraindications, dosing, etc.).

Packages and labels products and insures that they are properly handled, stored, and accounted for.

Supervises and directs the workflow of Pharmacy Technicians.

Provides monthly or as needed reports to Chief, Department of Pharmacy, on waiting times, workload, and staffing needs.

Evaluates work performance of directly-reporting subordinates. Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.

Identifies developmental and training needs of employees and other hospital personnel and provides or arranges for needed training.
