Job Overview

This role involves assembling mechanical products using hand and power tools in a fast-paced warehouse environment. You will interpret blueprints, perform quality checks, and complete assemblies either independently or within a small team. The position also includes basic computer tasks, maintaining a clean workspace, and supporting safe, efficient production processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical parts and products using hand and power tools according to specifications

• Read and interpret blueprints to ensure accurate assembly

• Perform quality inspections to verify products meet standards

• Use basic computer systems to log work, track production, and access instructions

• Work independently at a workstation to complete full assemblies

• Collaborate in teams (3–4 people) on larger or complex builds

• Safely handle materials, including picking, packing, and moving components

• Use RF scanners or similar tools to track inventory and materials

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

• Follow all safety procedures and properly use required PPE

• Assist with general warehouse tasks such as packaging and production support

• Use measuring tools (e.g., tape measures) to verify dimensions and accuracy

Essential Skills

• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per shift

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly

• Experience with hand and power tools

• Ability to read, write, and understand English for instructions and safety guidelines

• Blueprint reading and interpretation skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude

• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment

• Basic computer skills for production tracking

• Ability to work both independently and in a team

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in assembly, production, or general labor

• Experience in manufacturing, construction, or mechanical assembly

• Familiarity with RF scanners and warehouse systems

• Experience with packaging and product inspection

• Ability to use measuring tools accurately

• Strong attention to detail and quality

• Flexibility for overtime, including occasional Saturdays

Work Environment

• Fast-paced warehouse setting with active forklift traffic

• Approximately 30 employees, with continued growth expected

• Work performed at individual stations or in small teams

• Products range from small (computer-sized) to large (6–7 feet tall)

• Seasonal temperature variations (hot summers, cold winters)

Schedule & Requirements

• Shift: Monday–Friday, 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM

• Overtime: Typically after hours; occasional Saturdays may be required

Dress Code / PPE:

• Jeans and appropriate work attire

• Steel-toed shoes (required)

• Safety vest (required)

• Additional PPE provided as needed

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Iowa City, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
