Physical Therapist Clinic Director
$100k - $115kHealing Arts Center
Job Description
Job Description:\n\nBenefits:\n\n 401(k)\n Bonus based on performance\n Employee discounts\n Free uniforms\n Paid time off\n Relocation bonus\n\nPhysical Therapist / Clinic Director\n\nYou know that little voice you have at work that says, “If they would just let me run this place…”?\nWe may be interested in talking to that voice.\n\nHealing Arts Center is looking for an experienced Physical Therapist to lead one of our outpatient clinic locations.\n\nAnd by “lead,” we do not mean:\n\nCongratulations, you are now Clinic Director. Here is an extra spreadsheet and absolutely no authority.\n\nWe mean actually lead it.\n\nYou will treat patients.\n\nYou will work alongside PTAs and other members of the clinic team.\n\nYou will help set the tone.\n\nYou will know what is happening in your clinic.\n\nYou will notice when something is beginning to go sideways before somebody from another location has to discover it.\n\nYou will help solve problems.\n\nYou will help develop people.\n\nAnd over time, we want you to feel some genuine ownership over whether your location succeeds.\n\nIf that sounds exciting rather than terrifying, keep reading.\n\nFirst, let's acknowledge something.\n\nThe physical therapy industry has developed some fairly stupid habits.\n\nWe have somehow decided that a person with a doctorate, years of clinical education, and responsibility for actual human beings should spend large portions of the day:\n\n racing between treatment tables, \n clicking boxes, \n chasing units, \n fixing scheduling problems, \n answering questions nobody else wants to answer, \n and then finishing notes at home because apparently seeing your family is an optional benefit. \nWe aren't interested in building that.\n\nWe are also not interested in the opposite extreme, where "work-life balance" becomes code for nobody taking responsibility for anything.\n\nThere is a middle ground.\n\nWe call it:\n\nBeing a professional adult and running a good clinic.\n\nThat's what we are looking for.\n\nWhat is this job, exactly? The simplest description is:\n\nYou are the clinical leader responsible for the day-to-day success of our satellite clinic.\n\nYou will still be a practicing Physical Therapist.\n\nThis is not an administrative job where you slowly forget what a goniometer looks like.\n\nOur normal clinical model is approximately 8–10 patients per provider per day , with licensed PTAs integrated into the treatment team.\n\nAs Clinic Director, however, your job is bigger than your own schedule.\n\nYou will help make sure:\n\n Patients receive excellent care. \n PTAs are appropriately utilized and supported. \n Schedules make sense. \n Documentation gets completed. \n Clinicians communicate. \n Problems don't quietly ferment for six weeks. \n Patients aren't falling through cracks. \n Staff understand expectations. \n The clinic operates efficiently. \n People are productive without becoming miserable. \n The location continues to grow. \nIn short:\n\nIf something in your clinic is obviously stupid, we would like you to notice.\n\nEven better, we'd like you to help fix it.\n\nThis is leadership. Not royalty. One clarification before we get too far:\n\nBeing Clinic Director does not mean sitting in an office while everyone else works.\n\nYou will treat patients.\n\nYou will help when the clinic gets slammed.\n\nYou will answer questions.\n\nYou will coach people.\n\nYou will occasionally deal with something ridiculous because healthcare continues to involve both people and insurance companies.\n\nYou are not getting a crown.\n\nYou are getting responsibility.\n\nBut along with that responsibility comes something many healthcare organizations strangely forget to provide:\nActual influence.\n\nWe want your opinion.\n\nWe want you to identify problems.\n\nWe want you to suggest changes.\n\nAnd if you can explain why something should be done differently, we will actually listen.\n\nWild concept.\n\nOur Clinical ModelWe are a busy outpatient practice.\n\nBut our definition of busy is not:\n\n"How many human beings can we legally place inside one treatment area?"\n\nOur model is built around:\n\n Primarily one-on-one patient care\n Approximately 8–10 patients per provider per day\n Licensed PTAs as meaningful members of the treatment team \n PT involvement beyond simply performing evaluations \n Evaluations that include actual treatment \n Appropriate use of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, and other skilled interventions \n Interdisciplinary communication \n Clinical reasoning \n Follow-through \n Accountability \nWe care about productivity.\n\nYes, I said it.\n\nWe are still a healthcare business, and we expect clinicians to work.\n\nWe do not, however, worship units simply because a spreadsheet likes them.\n\nIf a service is clinically appropriate and the patient needs it, provide it.\n\nDo not manufacture unnecessary care.\n\nAlso do not give away necessary skilled care because it is easier.\n\nThose really aren't contradictory ideas.\n\nAbout the ClinicThis position is based at Countryside Health & Wellness, one of our satellite locations in the Branson area. It is a 5000 sq ft stand alone PT Clinic.\n\nThe clinic is part of the larger Healing Arts Center organization, so you are not being dropped onto an island with a key, a login, and our best wishes.\n\nYou will have organizational leadership and a larger PT department behind you.\n\nBut we do want someone at Countryside who sees the clinic as their responsibility day-to-day.\n\nSomeone who walks in and naturally thinks:\nAre we taking good care of people?\n Is the staff functioning well?\n Is the schedule working?\n Are we following through?\n Where are we losing opportunities?\n Why are we doing that this way?\n Can we make this better? If your brain already works that way, we are interested.\n\nWhat We Don't WantWe do not want someone who thinks "leadership" means telling other people what to do.\n\nWe don't want someone who waits for every decision to come from above.\n\nWe don't want someone who sees a recurring problem every day for four months and never mentions it.\n\nWe definitely don't want someone who believes:\n\n"That's not technically my job."\n\nClinic Directors unfortunately encounter quite a few things that aren't technically anybody's job.\n\nThat's sort of the point.\n\nWe also don't want a leader who destroys morale in the name of accountability.\n\nOr a leader who refuses to hold anybody accountable in the name of morale.\n\nBoth are lazy leadership.\n\nWhat We DO WantWe are looking for someone who is:\n\n An excellent Physical Therapist \n Clinically curious \n Organized \n Calm under pressure \n Comfortable making decisions \n Comfortable having difficult conversations when necessary \n Able to coach without being condescending \n Able to hold standards without becoming insufferable \n Good with patients \n Good with staff \n Good with communication \n Able to see the bigger picture \n Interested in growing a clinic \n Comfortable being accountable for results \n Willing to ask for help before something becomes a dumpster fire \nYou don't have to walk in knowing every part of our organization.\n\nActually, we'd be concerned if you claimed you did.\n\nBut you need to be someone who learns quickly and naturally takes ownership.\n\nThe PT Part Still MattersPlease don't mistake the leadership language for us saying clinical skill doesn't matter.\n\nIt matters enormously.\n\nYou will still evaluate and treat patients.\n\nWe want a PT who can think beyond:\n\nPain = 3x10 of something with a resistance band.\n\nWe see complicated patients.\n\nWe want clinicians who ask why.\n\nWe want clinicians who reassess.\n\nWe want clinicians who can change course when something isn't working.\n\nWe want clinicians who know the difference between treating a diagnosis and treating the person sitting in front of them.\n\nIf your favorite treatment plan is "the same thing I did with the last guy," we are probably going to annoy each other.\n\nCompensationThis position pays a base salary of:\n\n$100,000–$115,000 annually\n\nWhy higher than our standard staff-PT range?\n\nBecause this isn't our standard staff-PT job.\n\nYou are being asked to take responsibility not only for your own patients but also for helping lead an entire clinic.\n\nResponsibility should come with compensation.\n\nApparently that needed to be said.\n\nThe exact salary will depend on experience, leadership ability, and how quickly we believe you can independently take ownership of the location.\n\nPerformance Bonus\n\nThis position will also be eligible for a performance bonus of up to $15,000 annually.\n\nAnd no, the bonus will not be based on some corporate formula developed by a person who has never stepped inside the clinic.\n\nIt will be tied to understandable things such as:\n\n Patient care and outcomes \n Clinic growth \n Appropriate productivity \n Documentation \n Staff development and retention \n Patient experience \n Operational consistency \n Leadership \n Follow-through \n Overall success of the location \nIn other words:\n\nIf the clinic wins because you are doing a great job leading it, we think you should participate in that win.\n\nSeems reasonable.\n\nRelocation AssistanceFor a qualified candidate genuinely relocating to the Branson area, we offer up to $5,000 in relocation reimbursement with receipts.\n\n"Genuinely relocating" means actually moving here.\n\nMoving six miles and buying a new sectional does not count.\n\nNice try.\n\nScheduleThis is a full-time position.\n\nGenerally, expect something close to:\n\nMonday–Friday, approximately 8:00–5:00\n\nWe do not routinely work weekends.\n\nWe do not routinely work holidays.\n\nWe do not believe staying at the clinic until 8:00 PM proves commitment.\n\nWe also aren't looking for someone whose soul leaves their body at precisely 4:59.\n\nThis is a leadership role.\n\nOccasionally, something will require attention.\n\nWe want someone who takes responsibility seriously and has a real life outside work.\n\nThose things can coexist.\n\nBenefitsBenefits include:\n\n Paid time off \n Paid holidays \n Supplemental insurance options \n Life insurance \n Malpractice coverage \n 401(k) \n Uniforms \n Employee and immediate-family access to many clinic services \n No-cost or discounted care depending on service \n Professional development opportunities \n Leadership growth \n A larger organization behind you rather than corporate headquarters 900 miles away \nDPT vs. PTYes, the job title says Physical Therapist.\n\nMost applicants today will have a DPT.\n\nBut if you are an experienced PT who graduated before the profession decided everyone needed three more letters after their name, we are not going to pretend that somehow erased your clinical ability.\n\nIf you are licensed, experienced, clinically strong, and capable of leading a clinic, apply.\n\nCompetence beats alphabet soup.\n\nNew GraduatesThis is where this posting differs from our regular PT position.\n\nA truly exceptional new graduate can certainly apply.\n\nBut realistically?\n\nThis is probably not a new-graduate position.\n\nYou aren't just learning how to become a Physical Therapist.\n\nYou will be helping lead other people.\n\nWe would strongly prefer someone with outpatient clinical experience and enough professional seasoning to recognize the difference between:\n\n"I know how to do this."\n\nand\n\n"I should probably ask somebody before I do this."\n\nBoth are important leadership skills.\n\nThis Job Is Probably NOT For You If:\n\n You mainly want the word "Director" on your résumé. \n You think leadership means everyone reports to you while you report to nobody. \n You need constant direction. \n You avoid uncomfortable conversations indefinitely. \n You think every operational problem belongs to administration. \n You don't like accountability. \n You believe productivity is beneath clinicians. \n You think profitability and excellent patient care are mutually exclusive. \n You want a low-pressure job where somebody else notices everything. \n Every previous employer somehow turned out to be "toxic." \n You routinely arrive with chaos and are shocked when chaos follows you. \n You want authority significantly more than responsibility. \nThis Job MAY Be For You If:\n\n You've caught yourself thinking, "I could run this clinic better."\n You naturally take ownership. \n You like mentoring clinicians. \n You want to stay clinically active. \n You want more influence over how care is delivered. \n You like solving operational problems. \n You can balance compassion with accountability. \n You genuinely enjoy helping people succeed. \n You want the opportunity to build something rather than merely occupy a position. \n You would like your compensation to grow when the clinic succeeds. \n You want to become a better clinician and a better leader. \nWhy Branson?Branson is a pretty good place to build a career and an actual life at the same time.\n\nWe have Table Rock Lake, Lake Taneycomo, hiking, boating, fishing, good schools, live entertainment, restaurants, and enough tourism to keep things interesting.\n\nWe also still live in a part of the country where owning a house is theoretically possible without selling a kidney.\n\nSpringfield is about an hour away when you need a larger city.\n\nAnd if you'd rather spend Saturday morning on the lake than sitting in traffic wondering why your rent is $3,400...\n\nWe understand.\n\nHow to ApplySend us your résumé.\n\nBut because this is a leadership position, we would also like you to tell us something briefly:\n\nIf we handed you responsibility for a PT clinic tomorrow, what is the first thing you would want to understand about how it operates?\n\nThere isn't one magic answer.\n\nWe want to see how you think.\n\nWe aren't merely trying to fill another treatment schedule.\n\nWe are looking for someone we can eventually trust to say:\n\n"I've got this clinic."\n\nAnd actually mean it.\n\nIf that's the kind of opportunity you've been waiting for, we'd like to talk.\n\nHealing Arts Center / Countryside Health & Wellness\n\n
