Senior Accountant

Location: Kennesaw, GA
Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)

Position Overview

MC Squared is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance and Accounting team in Kennesaw, Georgia. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, owning the month-end close process, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, and supporting audits, budgeting, and process improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger accounting experience, a proven track record of completing month-end close through the preparation of financial statements, and experience supporting FAR audits. Experience with Deltek ERP software is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and manage the monthly close process from journal entries through financial statement preparation.

• Monitor and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.

• Analyze financial results and provide reporting to management.

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.

• Support FAR audits and external audit requests by preparing schedules and documentation.

• Monitor fixed asset acquisitions, disposals, and transfers while maintaining the fixed asset register.

• Reconcile fixed asset subledger activity to the general ledger.

• Collaborate with Project Controls to review project accounting, job cost reporting, over/under billings, and percentage-of-completion accounting.

• Assist with payroll processing and payroll reconciliations as needed.

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and internal controls.

• Support year-end close and other accounting initiatives as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.

• Strong experience managing month-end close activities through the preparation of financial statements.

• Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Experience supporting Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) audits.

• Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger accounting.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA designation and/or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

• Experience with Deltek accounting software.

• Experience within an engineering, consulting, professional services, government contracting, or project-based environment.

• Experience with ERP systems and project accounting.
