Staff Accountant

Our client in the Tempe area is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the accounting operations of their growing retail organization . This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end close process, and ensuring the integrity of inventory and sales data across multiple locations!
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger activity
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Assist with month-end close, including accruals and financial reporting
- Reconcile inventory balances, analyze COGS, and support inventory counts
- Perform POS and daily sales/cash reconciliations across store locations
- Review and explain variances in sales, inventory, and expenses
- Support store-level financial reporting and collaborate with operations teams
- Assist with audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance
- 1–4+ years of accounting experience
- Retail or inventory experience preferred
- Strong Excel skills; ERP (NetSuite, or similar) experience a plus
