Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly turn into a cancel and DNR. Candidates must possess skills in medical-surgical nursing and oncology care. The patient population primarily consists of individuals with general medical-surgical diagnoses. The administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy is required, including IV, PO, or injection. Candidates will be expected to care for patients with various conditions including AKI, sepsis, cancer, septic shock, and more. Floating to similar units and alternate care locations is required. Call may be required if called off on a prescheduled shift. Candidates must be available to work every other weekend. Contract staff may need to report to work during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters. Attendance to monthly staff meetings is mandatory. Daily census is approximately 42 patients, and staffing ratios may increase during high census times. Contract staff will work alongside home unit staff to ensure all patients are covered with a registered nurse. Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty.
