Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educator to join our dynamic educational team. In this vital role, you will design and implement tailored reading instructional strategies to support students with diverse learning needs. Your enthusiasm and expertise will foster an inclusive, small group environment that promotes growth, independence, and confidence among all learners. Teachers will provide reading intervention to students K-5 using the Wilson Reading System and Fundations curriculum. Assessments are done monthly using DIBLES.
Duties
- Provide reading intervention to students on individualized education plans (IEPs) that aligns with each student’s unique needs and goals
- Must be willing to work 2 days/week during regular school hours.
- Instruction takes place in various private schools throughout Denver Public Schools boundaries
- Adapt curriculum materials and instructional approaches to accommodate various learning styles and disabilities
- Manage small group behavior effectively through positive reinforcement and proactive behavior management techniques
- Monitor student progress through assessments and ongoing observations; adjust instruction accordingly
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education k-5
- Experience with The Wilson Reading System, an Orton-Gillingham based curriculum. Training provide
- Minimm commitment of 2 days per week during regular elementary school hours
- Proven experience working with children with disabilities in classroom or childcare settings
- Proficiency in instructional design, lesson planning, and curriculum development tailored for special populations
