If you enjoy contributing to a clean atmosphere and have knowledge of safety hazards and safe chemical handling, we'd love for you to apply for our Surgical Housekeeping Specialist position in our Surgical Services Department. What You'll Need: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Prior experience in healthcare setting preferred. Other cleaning experience may be accepted. Knowledge of chemicals used for cleaning in healthcare setting. Experience in use of heavier equipment to include rotary buffer and high speed buffers. Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to create an appropriate environment. What You'll Do: Responsibility to perform between case cleaning-cleaning that takes place between actual procedures, where efficiency, thoroughness and speed are essential. Terminal cleaning-through, detailed cleaning of the area at the end of daily operations. Proper Chemical Usage- becomes familiar with all chemicals provided for specific use. Ensure that you adhere to the manufacturers recommended dilution ratios at all times. Do not mix chemical together unless directed by your supervisor to do so. Remember that over use of chemicals together can cause deadly toxic fumes. Hard Surface Floors- cleans hard floors to include: dust mopping, damp mopping using a microfiber mop or wet mop and disinfectant; spot mopping spills immediately, using wet floor signs anytime the floor is wet; buffing with either rotary or high speed buffers; stripping and waxing floors when the finish can no longer be buffed to a shine. Infection Control- adheres to the hospitals specific guidelines. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Wash your hands frequently. Report any exposure to blood, body fluids, or needle sticks immediately and follow the hospital or clinics exposure plan. Participates in Surgical Housekeeping Specialist /EVS Custodian and Housekeeping "On Call Rotation" as scheduled. This includes weekends and Holiday coverage. Clean patients rooms, perform discharge cleaning and other "special areas" such as Labor and Delivery, Endoscopy, ICU and Emergency Department as requested. Assist EVS Custodians when requested or time allows.
