RN - Emergency Department | Advanced Care Nurse

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a secure care environment.
• Manage and maintain central lines and prevent surgical site infections following policy guidelines.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and educate patients and families to promote health outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and support clinical decisions.
• Document all care activities and quality measures accurately to comply with standards.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members to improve patient outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage patients and families with timely communication and education to enhance their experience.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Requirements

• Current RN license valid in the state or compact licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• Certifications required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Additional certifications: Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), Mandt training course.

Mental and Physical Demands

This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
