Staff Accountant

Role Description

As the Staff Accountant, you will support the accounting function through ownership of:

• Accounts payable
• Payroll accounting
• Journal entries
• Reconciliations
• Accruals
• Month-end close activities

This position reports to the Controller and will work closely with leadership to support:

• Process improvements
• NetSuite optimization initiatives
• Acquisition integrations
• Audit readiness
• The continued scaling of the accounting function

What you'll be doing:

• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
• Preparation and presentation of accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other necessary reporting documents.
• Assist with state and local tax registrations, annual reports, business license renewals, and other regulatory compliance filings.
• Collaboration in the formal development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
• Own accounts payable operations including vendor onboarding, invoice processing, payment administration, and vendor statement reconciliations.
• Maintain vendor records.
• Assist with payroll accounting, benefit accruals, commission accruals, and payroll-related account reconciliations.
• Calculate and record departmental cost allocations and interdepartmental expense allocations.
• Prepare assigned month-end close deliverables in accordance with the monthly close calendar and established internal control procedures.
• Maintain prepaid expense, fixed asset, and accrual schedules.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities.
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
• Assist with preparation of audit schedules and support annual financial statement audits.
• Support the Senior Revenue Accountant with billing, collections, and revenue accounting projects as needed.
• Maintain accounting records within NetSuite and assist with system improvements and process efficiencies.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• 5+ years of experience in financial management roles with relevant experience.
• SaaS experience required.
• NetSuite experience required.
• Thoroughly versed in GAAP particularly with technology-related requirements, and have strong background in non-routine and complex transactions.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting.
• Experience with accounts payable, payroll accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative accounting team.

Requirements

• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• Bill pay experience preferred.
