Radiation Therapist

Simulate and administer radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by the radiation oncologist. Interpret the prescription and treatment plan. Complete patient identification processes per department procedure. Maintain audio and visual surveillance of the patient during treatment. Consistently and accurately position the patient for treatment. Image patients as directed by the radiation oncologist. Consistently and accurately annotate portal images as appropriate. Observe patients for side effects of radiation. Report observations to the radiation oncologist, nurse, or supervisor. Use a digital camera to document treatment position and tattoos on patients' skin. Safely transfer patients from stretcher or wheelchair using proper body mechanics. Perform simple calculations for emergency treatments. Construct quality immobilization devices that promote reproducible patient positioning. Accurately and visibly tattoo patients as appropriate. Practice safe handling of needles. Participate in daily chart rounds to coordinate patient care. Complete weekly cleaning and documentation as required. Accurately fabricate custom blocks. Coordinate simulation to support continuity of care.

Experience: Minimum of one year of radiation therapy experience. License: State licensure required. Certifications: ARRT, Basic Life Support. Must-Have: Experience with Varian TrueBeam or Edge, Aria. Education: Successful completion of a radiation therapy program required.
