Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor

Automotive/Diesel Mechanic

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from high school; supplemented by courses in automotive repair and diesel mechanics; associate's degree (preferred) in automotive technology, automotive/equipment maintenance, or a related field; three years' journey-level automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience; two years' fleet supervision experience preferred; three years of experience in general gasoline, light-duty diesel-powered, and/or heavy-duty equipment repair work; knowledge of techniques and practices of maintenance and repair of heavy- and light-duty vehicles and grounds maintenance equipment; knowledge of principles of training, supervision, and providing work direction; knowledge of methods, equipment, tools, and materials used in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment; knowledge of fleet control and technical aspects of the field of specialty; ability to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Transportation Department in the maintenance and repair of District fleet vehicles and support equipment; ability to repair and maintain a wide variety of large and small gasoline- and diesel-powered equipment and small engines; ability to train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and computerized malfunctions; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and make presentations with clarity and accuracy; and a valid Class B commercial driver's license, with passenger and air brake endorsements, and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's Vehicle Insurance Policy.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid State of California Class B Driver's License; and possession of a valid California DMV Medical Examiner's Certificate (DL-51A)
