Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC's 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school.

Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. In FY2016, UBHC treated 16,199 consumers, had 24,502 admissions, and touched the lives of 19,441 individual callers through peer support. In addition, UBHC is the primary mental health training resource for the New Jersey departments of Human Services, Children and Families, and Corrections, delivering 16,000 trainings each year.

Posting Summary


Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Mental Health Clinician II in the Outpatient Services within Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare.

Under direction, the Mental Health Clinician II serves as the senior mental health practitioner who provides lead functions for the OCD IOP program, to include screening of intakes and referrals, care coordination, ensuring completion of program specific documentation and/or comprehensive assessment and therapeutic intervention for the psychological and social needs of adult individuals served (18 and over), including development of treatment plans, conducting individual, group, and family therapy, and providing case management. Assists with the provision of clinical supervision to licensing candidates as assigned.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Contributes to and supports goals and objectives of the Unit and UBHC.
• Demonstrates knowledge of University Behavioral Health Care's vision, mission and values as they relate to service provision, daily activities, decisions and quality improvement priorities and consistently behaves in accordance with established policies and procedures as observed by supervisor.
• Effectively contributes to and supports an environment that enhances the positive self-image of individuals served and their families and preserves their human dignity, right to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy and civil rights as observed by supervisor and with minimal complaints and positive feedback from peers, patients and their families.
• Actively and enthusiastically participates in ensuring the smooth functioning and operation of the program, and participates in UBHC-wide meetings, performance improvement activities, committees and task forces as assigned and as observed by supervisor and program administration.
• Consistently ensures that individuals served, families and system partners understand and adhere to procedures while at UBHC.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

• Master's Degree in mental health discipline plus two (2) years post Master's experience in the mental health field including delivering psychotherapeutic services to the identified population, or a Doctorate Degree

Certifications/Licenses

• Independent license to practice as required by New Jersey state laws governing the discipline (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LCADC, Licensed Psychologist).
• Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
