About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00-07:00 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI Must-Have: Strong IV skills in adults and pediatrics Excellent communication skills Description: The emergency department has 22 beds with a vertical space area for additional patients. The unit is staffed by approximately 50 personnel. Day shift consists of 1 charge nurse, 5-6 nurses, 1 tech, and 1 medic. Night shift includes 1 charge nurse, 5-6 nurses, 1 secretary, and 1 tech/medic. Patient-to-nurse ratios are typically 1:4. Key equipment includes Phillips and GE Monitors and a Level 1 Rapid Infuser. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. Candidates should have trauma experience and Meditech experience, if possible. Typical procedures performed in the unit include: Cardioversion Central line placements Management of cardiac arrests IV insertions and basic ER skills such as EKGs Pacemaker interrogation Code Stroke protocol Code Sepsis protocol Suture and abscess setup The ideal candidate will be a team player. They will be energetic and maintain professionalism and respect towards both patients and staff. Candidates should be able to hold themselves and others accountable. A patient-centered focus and excellent attendance are essential. The ability to adapt quickly to change is a must. Weekends and on-call requirements include working every other weekend, at least one Friday, and one Monday in a four-week schedule. No on-call duty is required.
