This position operates in a hybrid work environment, with responsibilities performed both remotely and in a professional office setting** As a Senior Staff Accountant, you'll play a vital role in supporting our mission by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of our financial operations. This position is responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting with month‑end close, and preparing financial reports. Working collaboratively with the Finance team, the Senior Staff Accountant helps ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) while providing accurate financial information that supports informed decision-making across the organization. What Winning Looks Like In this role, you'll be responsible to: Accounting Operations: Prepare journal entries, reconcile bank and general ledger accounts, support month-end and year-end close, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure accounting transactions are processed accurately and timely. Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare financial reports, supporting schedules, audit documentation, fixed asset reconciliations, and assist with budgeting, financial analysis, and resolving accounting discrepancies. Financial Operations Support: Provide support for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and other accounting functions while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and accounting standards. Administrative & Departmental Coordination: Support the Finance Department by coordinating calendars, meetings, correspondence, reports, presentations, document management, invoices, purchase requests, expense reports, and departmental resources. Project Support & Continuous Improvement: Coordinate communication with internal and external stakeholders, track department projects and deadlines, assist with audits and special projects, and contribute to process improvement initiatives. What We're Looking For Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Experience with accounting and financial software systems preferred. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Age Requirement: This position requires you to be at least 18 years of age. Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required. Reliable Transportation: You'll need reliable transportation. Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field required. Experience Requirement: Five (5) years of accounting experience. Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Nonprofit accounting experience preferred. Work Environment Work Authorization: Candidates must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship** This position operates in a hybrid work environment, with responsibilities performed both remotely and in a professional office setting. Regular or occasional travel to the organization's Corporate Headquarters and other agency locations may be required for meetings, training, collaboration, audits, or other business needs. Travel requirements will vary based on departmental priorities and organizational needs. Physical Demands May require lifting at times, up to 35 pounds. Lifting more than 35 pounds requires the use of a two-person lift, mechanical lift, or assistive equipment. May require prolonged standing for up to eight (8) hours. Must have ability to perform close visual work (e.g., reading typed or handwritten material). Must be able to communicate effectively through speech.
