Associate

This company is seeking an Associate to support its private investing activities, with a focus on existing and new insurance, reinsurance, risk transfer, and other private equity investments. About the Role The Associate’s responsibilities will span across all areas of sourcing, executing, and managing private equity investments. This will include providing analytical and project support to affiliates investment and portfolio activities, as well as other ancillary internal projects. The investment mandate of this firm is asset class agnostic, so the Associate will have exposure across all asset classes including public equities and real estate. Responsibilities Evaluating and supporting sourcing and execution of new investment opportunities Collaborating with management teams to evaluate new investment opportunities. Performing detailed analyses on potential investments, including evaluating companies’ business models and key operating metrics and margins, analyzing historical and projected financial performance, and optimizing transaction structures and evaluating returns. Conducting industry research (e.g., primary industry research, public equity research, comparable company analysis, discussions with industry experts, etc.). Maintain deal pipeline to memorialize all screened investment opportunities. Working with existing portfolio companies: Analyzing portfolio companies’ monthly financial reporting packages and organizing the data to facilitate the monitoring of financial trends and key operating metrics. Providing market data and research; assisting management teams with staying current on competitive trends and industry benchmarking. Working with the management teams on projects such as new market expansion, new product and service launches, and add-on acquisition searches. Supporting senior management teams on budget creation, investor presentations, lender interaction, and audit and tax preparation. Board observation and strategic planning. Analyzing the risk/reward and placement of portfolio companies’ reinsurance programs: Assist in managing the annual reinsurance placement of two private P&C insurance carriers. Qualifications At least two years of professional experience: investment banking, private equity or credit investing, hedge fund, mezzanine lending, insurance/reinsurance-focused corporate development, or top tier management consulting strongly preferred. Ideal candidate will have experience working with or for insurance / reinsurance companies (property & casualty).
