Take significant ownership of overall product vision by defining new features and architecture. Distill complex and ambiguous requirements into meaningful projects that provide immense customer value. Own and code end‑to‑end deliverables from design, development, deployment, monitoring, and operations. Lead engineers on substantial projects and help develop a flourishing team through active mentoring and hiring. A day in the life Design and code solutions to help the team drive efficiencies in software architecture, including creating metrics, implementing automation, and resolving root causes of software defects. Build high‑impact solutions for our large customer base. Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Work cross‑functionally to help drive business decisions with technical input. Operate in a startup‑like development environment, focusing on the most important work. About the team Our team works on the execution engine of Amazon Redshift, focusing on high scalability, performance, and extending the capabilities of the execution engine. Engineers come with expertise in query execution, query optimization, high performance computing, computer architecture, compilers, distributed systems, and data lake technologies. Qualifications 5+ years of professional software development experience. 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language (e.g., C++, Java, or Rust). 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling). Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team. Experience with distributed computing and enterprise‑wide systems. Proficiency in at least one modern programming language and building/operating mission‑critical, highly available systems. 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent. Strong coding skills with emphasis on logical thinking, data structures, algorithms, and problem‑solving capabilities. Experience with distributed (multi‑tiered) systems architecture and performing live system and core analysis using GDB. Compensation and Benefits The base salary range for this position is $193,300.00 – $261,500.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
