Summary Objective The purpose of this position is to perform both routine and non-routine audits of compliance and fraud activities, financial records, accounts, cash, reports, internal controls and operations. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Completes all aspects of assigned audits, including planning, fieldwork, and reporting, with limited supervision.
- Analyzes current business processes, technologies, risk management practices and areas of potential risk and documents potential issues and improvements.
- Collaborates with clients directly to determine business objectives, operational practices, risks, root causes, and effective corrective actions.
- Identifies opportunities to utilize data analytics techniques where appropriate to evaluate large and complex populations of data.
- Creates recommendations regarding internal control processes and related procedures in order to reduce risk related to observations identified during audit engagements.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills throughout the audit process.
- Prepares reports and correspondence, completes special projects and maintains records and files.
- Documents all pertinent information throughout the audit process in accordance with office standards and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).
- Follows-up on audit issues by collaborating with the applicable business process owner regarding progress and validating effective remediation through testing.
- Coordinates, and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Maintains professional proficiency through self-study resources, computer tutorials and other types of training.
- Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Business or Public Administration or related discipline.
- Two (2) years of auditing, accounting, finance, budget analyst, or operational experience required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
- None.
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
- Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
