Lead Software Engineer, CTO

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
• We need hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• We require advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, with Java as a must-have.
• We need practical experience working with databases such as Amazon Aurora and Postgres, including queries, extraction and manipulation, operations, performance tuning, and reliability.
• We require demonstrated experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to set expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• We need a strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security standards.
• We require proficiency across all stages of the software development life cycle.
• We need advanced understanding of agile practices such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• We require in-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
• We need practical cloud-native experience with AWS, including services commonly used for scalable applications.
• Preferred: experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and environment standardization.
• Preferred: experience with data access tools such as MyBatis or similar ORM/persistence frameworks in Java systems.
• Preferred: experience building or supporting modern web frontends and Node.js services.
• Preferred: experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code, used responsibly to accelerate delivery, testing, refactoring, and documentation.
• Preferred: a strong track record in support work, including incident management, triage, post-incident reviews, and operational hardening.

• We design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions, including approaches that go beyond routine or conventional methods.
• We build secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others.
• We drive adoption of enterprise-approved AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
• We apply knowledge of software development life cycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value delivered through automation.
• We identify opportunities to eliminate or automate recurring remediation work to improve the stability of our software applications and systems.
• We lead evaluation sessions with internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and fit within existing systems and information architecture.
