Director Of FinanceThe Director of Finance is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the organization in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and other regulatory and advisory organizations and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the non-profit environment.ResponsibilitiesFinancePlan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performanceAccountable for managing and tracking operating expense budget, corporate revenue and operating incomeParticipate in the development of the corporation's plans and programs as a strategic partnerEvaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory actionDevelop credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the Executive Director and the Board and other senior executives in performing their responsibilitiesEnhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporationEstablish credibility throughout the organization and with the Board as an effective developer of solutions to business challengesProvide technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial disciplineContinual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting their budgetsProvide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization (i.e. evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions and/or mergers and pension fund and investments)Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positionBe an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the corporation may enterEnsure accuracy of the payroll process including timecard processing and payroll input in both payroll and accounting systemsGrantsOversee process for tracking and managing grants, including obtaining and preparing financial reports required to comply with grant requirementsCreate new validation procedures as needed to ensure the overall integrity of dataProvide review of data prior to distribution to outside resources and grantors, to verify accuracy and program requirementsProvide leadership in designing the information entered into MTS database for the accurate accumulation of data and reportsSupervisionRecruit, select, train and manage staff and volunteers, as neededEnsure effective and productive performance of staffProvide ongoing feedback, regular appraisals and identify development opportunitiesEvaluation of the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individualsManage staff performance in achieving goals and provide technical assistance as neededBoard & CommitteesParticipate in BGCGC Corporate meetingsReport on Finance, Investment & Audit committee meetings; facilitate approvals of and implement action plansCoordinate use of committee members to monitor and report on program initiativesSupport Board committees as neededQualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or business administrationA minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience managing the accounting functions in a nonprofit agency, or equivalent experienceThorough knowledge of budget management and accounting practices, processes and procedures of nonprofit organizationsDemonstrated ability to: organize, direct and coordinate operations in personnel supervision; recruit and retain key personnel; oversee facilities managementGood communication skills, both verbal and writtenStrong organization and analytical skillsAbility to interact professionally with Club staff, board members, volunteers and other related agencies DISCLAIMER: The information presented indicates the general nature and level of work expected of employees in this classification.
