Summary The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering training solutions that support ACS programs and advance patient care. Location / Hybrid Chicago office – 3 days per week in office and 2 days remote. Salary Range $73,700 – $80,000 (commensurate with experience). Responsibilities Plan and execute instructional design projects, including needs assessments, design documents, storyboards, and scripts. Collaborate with subject matter experts, internal teams, and external partners to develop learner‑centered content for live, hybrid, and web‑based courses. Build, test, and maintain courses in ACS’s Learning Management System, ensuring quality and accessibility. Manage project timelines, track communication, and deliver high‑quality training solutions on schedule and within budget. Coordinate stakeholder meetings and support the execution of training initiatives aligned with organizational priorities. Foster continuous improvement by standardizing design processes, measuring training effectiveness, and exploring innovative learning technologies. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (required). Master’s degree or advanced training in Instructional Design (required). At least 2 years of instructional design experience, including full‑cycle learning solution development. Experience collaborating with subject matter experts (medical SME experience preferred). Proficiency with major authoring tools (Storyline, Rise) and LMS platforms. Strong multimedia development skills: graphics, audio, video, and interactivity. Demonstrated ability to apply adult learning principles and deliver measurable training outcomes. Required Skills Adult learning theory and instructional design principles. Clear translation of complex SME content into structured learning materials. Project management: organization, timeline management, and stakeholder coordination. Proficiency with LMS platforms and common authoring tools. Excellent technical writing, content editing, and basic video/audio editing. Commitment to quality, usability, and accessibility standards. Preferred Skills Scenario‑based or simulation‑focused learning experience. Analysis of learner data to inform course improvements. Basic graphic design or multimedia skills.
