Senior Software Engineer

Position Summary As a member of Walmart Global Tech, you will build industry‑defining reusable customer and partner‑facing services and products to lead differentiated experiences and revenue. You’ll serve both our customers (1P and 3P) and our associates across all Walmart segments, delivering solutions that impact millions of users. About Team Our team works closely with U.S. stores and the eCommerce business to empower team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in‑store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, search and personalization. What you’ll do Design, build, and maintain high‑performance front‑end applications for 1P and 3P customers. Develop reusable code for managing functionality, configuration, deployment, monitoring, performance, scalability, availability, security, and alerting across test, integration, and production environments. Plan and implement reconfigurations, integrations, removals, or additions of application components to enhance functionality, resilience, usability, and security. Understand business, stakeholder, and technical requirements and analyze existing solutions to address needs, creating modular and extensible designs. Assess gaps, updates, or modifications between expectations and existing products or solutions. Analyze defects from past projects to prevent recurrence. Analyze system performance for non‑functional requirements such as reliability, operability, performance efficiency, and security; troubleshoot bottlenecks. Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test cases and deployment procedures (Shift‑Left practice). Follow coding and design best practices and contribute to continuous improvement. Plan hardware capacity for high‑traffic business events. Design, build, and maintain observability aspects of the application. Review peer code and foster a culture of continuous improvement of architecture. Collaborate with stakeholders on launching A/B tests for new functionalities. What you’ll bring Experience creating user interfaces with HTML5, CSS, and libraries such as Bootstrap. Front‑end programming experience with Java, Python, JavaScript, Spring, Node, React, Angular, or similar frameworks. Experience integrating with scalable back‑end services using REST or GraphQL. Experience with functional, integration, and end‑to‑end testing tools and practices. Experience with code repositories, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment. Experience in software quality and operational excellence practices. Experience with agile development methodology. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering or related field and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area. OR 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in a related field and 1 year’s experience in software engineering or related area. Experience creating inclusive digital experiences, implementing WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility. Knowledge of accessibility best practices and Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines.
