Job Description

The Manufacturing Lead oversees day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure products are produced efficiently, accurately, safely, and on schedule. This role provides clear direction and leadership to manufacturing technicians, supports hands-on production activities, and communicates the needs and capabilities of the manufacturing area to leadership. The position follows established procedures, quality system requirements, and regulatory standards while identifying opportunities for process improvement and fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work in full compliance with company policies and within the guidelines of the quality system and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Provide daily direction and guidance to manufacturing team members to ensure products are manufactured on time and in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures.
• Manufacture, assemble, and ship regulated products and sub-assemblies, including medical devices that may involve radioactive materials, following established processes and safety requirements.
• Operate production equipment within controlled environments, ensuring consistent, high-quality output.
• Maintain accurate and complete records in compliance with regulatory requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Review team timecards to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
• Support the training, development, and progression of team members, escalating employee relations issues as appropriate and conducting regular check-ins and one-on-one discussions based on established guidelines.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of designated manufacturing areas to support safe and efficient operations.
• Assist with in-process testing to confirm that batches meet established specifications and quality standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, tooling, production equipment, assembly methods, materials, and parts to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Assist with maintenance activities related to manufacturing equipment and facilities as needed.
• Provide mentorship and coaching to Manufacturing Technicians, fostering skill development and consistent performance.
• Model and promote the company’s purpose and shared values, helping to build and maintain a positive, collaborative, and productive team culture.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including those related to quality, safety, and data protection.
• Follow all safety rules and safety precautions, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of hazardous and radioactive materials.
• Access employee and/or patient PHI and ePHI only as required for job-related functions and in accordance with privacy and security policies.
• Obtain and maintain authorization as an approved user in one or more designated areas of the facility, as required for the role.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including laboratory, packaging, and other production areas, to support overall manufacturing objectives.
• Use measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify component and product dimensions where required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by applying good documentation practices and basic statistical techniques.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations and organizational goals.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing or operations experience.
• At least 1 year of experience in medical device manufacturing preferred.
• Experience handling radioactive materials in a radiation-controlled environment preferred.
• Supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate tasks and instructions from management to Manufacturing Technicians.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical functions using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute averages, rates, and percentages, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
• Ability and willingness to travel for work as required.
• Ability to satisfactorily pass comprehensive background and drug screening.
• Ability to use measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers in a production or laboratory setting.
• Experience with manufacturing processes, production operations, and assembly activities.
• Demonstrated leadership skills in guiding, coaching, or mentoring production or manufacturing teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a technical field preferred.
• Experience working with medical devices and regulated products.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality system regulations (QSRs).
• Experience operating laboratory and manufacturing equipment in controlled or cleanroom environments.
• Experience in laboratory, packaging, or mechanical assembly environments.
• Experience with process improvement initiatives in a production setting.
• Comfort working with hazardous materials and chemicals while following appropriate safety protocols.
• Ability to become an authorized user for designated facility areas as required.
• Experience using or interpreting in-process testing data and basic statistical techniques.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in documentation and recordkeeping.

Work Environment

The role operates across office space, supply rooms, laboratories, and cleanroom environments, requiring comfort in both administrative and hands-on production settings. You will frequently work with hazardous materials and chemicals, using appropriate personal protective equipment and following strict safety protocols. The position requires frequent fine hand–eye coordination, regular use of computers, keyboards, mice, monitors, and other office equipment, as well as frequent interaction with laboratory and manufacturing equipment. The role is largely stationary, with regular movement between work areas, and involves frequently lifting, carrying, and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds. Work hours may include some evenings and weekends depending on workload, and occasional overnight travel may be required for work-related activities. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to controlled conditions to support safe handling of radioactive and hazardous materials and to maintain high-quality manufacturing standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richland, WA.

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
