Maintenance Technician - 3rd Shift

Location: Onsite in Chestertown, MD

Pay: $28-35/hour

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to join our 3rd shift team. The primary purpose of this role is to perform mechanical and electrical maintenance, troubleshoot production equipment, and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure safe, efficient plant operations. The ideal candidate will be experienced with PLCs (Allen-Bradley and Siemens), pneumatics, hydraulics, welding, and fabrication, and will follow safety protocols including Lockout-Tagout procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency mechanical and electrical repairs on production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain throughput on the 3rd shift.
• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance tasks, including inspections, lubrication, alignment, vibration analysis, and timely replacement of components.
• Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, HMIs, and control systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), including ladder logic and communication issues.
• Diagnose and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including valves, cylinders, pumps, and manifolds.
• Perform welding (MIG/TIG) and fabrication tasks to modify or repair equipment and fixtures as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams, and technical manuals to plan and complete work.
• Perform electrical wiring and control panel modifications, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and company standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing equipment upgrades and reliability improvements.
• Document maintenance activities, repair histories, and parts usage in the CMMS and provide clear shift handover reports.
• Adhere to safety procedures, including Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), PPE requirements, and company safety policies; participate in safety meetings and training.
• Assist with installation, commissioning, and start-up of new machinery and equipment during planned outages or project work.
• Be available for on-call rotation and overtime as required to support production needs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment on rotating or 3rd shift.
• Proven mechanical maintenance skills including troubleshooting, bearings, conveyors, gearboxes, and alignment.
• Strong electrical maintenance skills including electrical wiring, motor controls, starters, PLCs, and HMIs.
• Knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance techniques and tools (vibration analysis, infrared, thermal imaging, etc.).
• Proficiency with pneumatics and hydraulics systems diagnosis and repair.
• Welding (MIG/TIG) and fabrication experience sufficient to perform repairs and modifications safely and to spec.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Familiarity with Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures and other safety practices; OSHA safety training preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills, good communication, and ability to work independently and as part of a team on 3rd shift.
