Purchasing Specialist

Clayton Services is searching for a Purchasing Specialist to join a growing company in Houston. The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for managing vendor relationships, sourcing materials, and ensuring timely procurement to support ongoing operations. Job Type: Temp-to-Hire Pay Rate: $32.00-$38.00/hour Benefits: Excellent benefits available after the successful completion of the temporary period, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and more. Purchasing Specialist Responsibilities: Source and procure materials, components, and supplies to support production and operational needs Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable delivery Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times with suppliers Create and manage purchase orders while ensuring accuracy and timeliness Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to avoid shortages or overstock Collaborate with internal teams to understand material requirements and project timelines Review purchase requests and confirm alignment with specifications and operational needs Track orders, resolve discrepancies, and address shipping or invoicing issues Maintain accurate vendor records and purchasing documentation Assist with reviewing vendor statements and resolving account discrepancies Other duties as assigned Purchasing Specialist Skills and Abilities: Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Effective communication skills for working with vendors and internal teams Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel Purchasing Specialist Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required 2+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience required Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr
