General Summary: Elementary Director of Teaching and Learning provides leadership
General Summary: The Director of Teaching and Learning provides leadership for development and implementation of the district Strategic Plan. Articulates and champions a vision of great teaching to the staff, administration, and community while cultivating a shared language about what great teaching looks like. Assists the Superintendent substantially and effectively in the task of providing leadership in developing, articulating, executing, and maintaining excellent educational programs and services. Job Duties-40 % - Instructional Leadership
Budget Management: This position has a budget signing authority of approximately $3,000,000.
Requirements and Qualifications Minimum Requirements
Administration and Management: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. - Analyze stakeholder feedback and work to collaboratively create a district vision and focus with goals to measure institutional progress.
- Coordinate the instructional and curricular program to achieve alignment with state standards as well as proper vertical and horizontal articulation.
- Administer a program of curriculum development and improvement for all levels of instruction through periodic revisions of courses of study and curricular evaluation.
- Review and evaluate all curriculum and the implementation of courses of study on a rotating cycle, making adjustments, acquiring materials, providing training, and identifying tools or assessment of student learning.
- Lead curriculum leadership teams (department chairs and team leaders) in the study, mapping, and implementation of the state standards.
- Serve as lead in the preparation and administration of state testing.
- Oversee the Jacket Way/Positive Behavior Intervention Supports program.
- Monitor and evaluate the educational programming and curriculum implementation in all buildings in concert with building principals.
- Seek local, state, federal, and private grants to fund identified needs of the educational program and oversee all categorically funded instructional programs.
- Develop and plan for the evaluation and acquisition of instructional software and other technologies.
- Supervise the development of district and building leadership teams and serve as an advisor on all teams.
- Coordinate all educational programs and related issues for the school district.
- Ensure all local, state, and federal data is accurate and reporting procedures are being followed.
- Ensure that all local and state mandates are followed.
- Assist in preparation of budgets, upholding a high standard of fiscal responsibility regarding the curriculum budget, and providing appropriate documentation of expenditures.
- Assist with communications to the district's community.
- Keep Superintendent informed concerning all areas of responsibility.
- Oversee the professional development vision and strategy for the district with a focus on building a reflective and collaborative professional culture in which teachers are committed to and supported in growing their craft of teaching.
- Administer, coordinate, monitor and encourage the growth of professional employees through a program of in-service education and staff development.
- Identify professional development needs related to the Strategic Plan as well as state and federal requirements and organize professional learning and workshops.
- Help with the evaluation process for certificated personnel (with principals) and develop specific educational opportunities to address deficiencies.
- Collect, analyze, and share assessment programming data with teachers, principals, the superintendent, and the Board and make recommendations for instructional programming and professional development.
- Oversee support programs for new teachers to the district, including the Resident Educator Program.
- Attend professional development meetings to provide specific recommendations regarding classroom activities which utilize technology to meet instructional objectives.
- Coordinate staff and administrative use of software applications and the development of applications necessary for staff and administration to perform their duties.
- Develop and plan for the evaluation and acquisition of instructional software and other technologies.
- Seek grants and/or other funding sources to support applications of technology.
- Supervise the direction of technology and evaluate the other annual technology plan prepared by the technology department.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Valid driver's license.
- Current Ohio Administrative or Superintendent Certificate
- Master's degree in Education, Educational Administration, or Curriculum
