About the Position

Job Title: RN - Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ED RN experience preferred License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI required; TNCC preferred Must-Have: Experience with adult and pediatric patients experiencing medical emergencies Description: This position requires caring for a high volume of patients in a busy, fast-paced environment. The emergency department sees on average 200+ patients per day. Typical patient diagnoses include strokes, respiratory illness, chest pain, abdominal pain, and diabetes complications. The department deals with heavy trauma stabilization cases, including gunshot wounds, stabbings, and a population with mental health, homelessness, substance abuse, and addiction issues. Patient ratios typically are RN 1:4, LPN 1:4, and CNA 1:20. General ED skillset required includes cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, and conscious sedation. Support within the department includes CNAs, receptionists, and charge nurses. Technology used includes EPIC for EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell for medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors. Travelers will be required to float to various facilities as needed within their scope of practice. Weekend rotation is every other weekend, and travelers will work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off are permitted up to 6 days, excluding holidays. Daily shifts may vary based on the requisition, and scheduling operates on a 6-week cycle. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork.
