We believe that service in support of social change is vital to a flourishing Jewish community and an inspired Jewish life. By 2030, Repair will catalyze one million acts of service towards repairing the world. Repair is building a Jewish service movement of flourishing Jewish communities that serve in pursuit of a just world. Repair mobilizes young adults to serve in their communities, catalyzes service through deep partnerships within Jewish communal organizations, and inspires people to take action through time-bound thematic national service campaigns. Our mission provides volunteers with an increased connection to meaningful service and learning as a Jewish value, builds capacity for nonprofit partners to meet their missions, and deepens connections across lines of difference. About Repair the World New York Repair the World connects people to meaningful Jewish service and learning, deepening their connection to Jewish community and bridging divides. Through service, we bring people together across lines of difference and alongside local nonprofit partners working to meet pressing needs. Repair the World New York launched in 2015 and now engages 5,000 participants annually through 75+ service and Jewish organizational partners. Our programs include Service Corps, the Ambassadors program and ongoing volunteering for teens, young adults and families. Repair’s Service Corps mobilizes young adults (ages 18-29) through part-time, time-bound service with local partners, paired with Jewish learning and peer community. For many, the Service Corps provides an entry point into Jewish life for those who may not be traditionally engaged with the broader Jewish community. Position Overview New York Repair is seeking a dynamic Program Director to support the planning and facilitation of meaningful Jewish service learning programs for families, teens, and young adults. The Program Director will plan and implement a robust calendar of programming, including large-scale stakeholder events, support and facilitate Repair’s Service Corps, drive the annual MLK Day of Service and engage our Jewish community in one-off service and learning events in partnership with Jewish communal and service partner organizations. The Program Director will also supervise New York Repair’s two Senior Program Associates, and be responsible for the oversight and management of Repair’s Workshop space in Crown Heights. The successful candidate will be a seasoned experiential Jewish educator, community builder, program planner, flexible self-starter, and a strong facilitator. They excel at building relationships with individuals and can speak passionately about the intersection of service, social change, and Jewish values. This is a full-time exempt position. The Program Director must be based in New York City, and will report to the Managing Director, New York. Schedule will vary each week depending on programs and engagement opportunities on evenings and weekends. Program Director must have a flexible schedule. Position Responsibilities Program Strategy & Execution: Develop local program strategy, build and execute calendar of service opportunities which includes: Oversight of Service Corps, Repair the World’s immersive service experience, as well as a Service Ambassador program, which empowers young Jewish adults to facilitate meaningful service for their peers in community. Regularly facilitate service projects which include hands-on service, issue area education, meaningful Jewish learning and reflection. Oversight of recruitment for all programs. Leads annual MLK Day of Service programming and logistics. Partnership Development: Builds and sustains relationships with local Jewish organizations and nonprofit service partners. Identifies and cultivates new partners for Service Corps placements and program collaboration. Fundraising Support : Collaborates with the Managing Director to support local fundraising efforts, including funder and stakeholder engagement Contributes to working toward locally-designed funding targets. Supervision: Supervise two Senior Program Associates. Coordinate with the team on program goals, share updates, troubleshoot challenges, provide feedback and foster collaboration. Workshop Operations & Facilities Management: Repair the World New York operates a workshop space in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. This role will be responsible for (among other affiliated tasks): Managing all workshop space usage, including rentals, systems and operations, materials ordering and package receipt, relationship with a tenant, and coordination with the landlord Overseeing monthly utility payments and related operational expenses Managing inventory for all kit packing projects, including development and maintenance of systems and processes for kit projects Supporting transportation and movement of materials from the workshop to service locations, as needed Finalizing rental agreements and working with data team to process inquiries Additional Responsibilities: Coordinate and collaborate with Repair the World’s staff across the country, to share skills and resources and maintain program alignment. Support marketing and communications efforts through content collection for our community newsletters and social media, including capturing photos and stories from service programming. Complete office and administrative responsibilities, and other needs that arise. Attend external events in support of partners and community. Input timely and accurate data in Salesforce upon completion of programs. Position Skills & Core Competencies We know you may not have all the skills listed. Leadership and Management: Strong leadership capabilities, with experience in managing teams and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and empowering environment. Fundraising and Budget Management: Understanding of financial strategies, budgeting and stakeholder engagement, aimed at ensuring program sustainability and impact. Requirements 5-7+ years of Experience: Including a track record of: Experience with strategic planning, program design and project management. Experience facilitating Jewish learning and/or service experiences for youth, families, or adults. Experience with stakeholder engagement and relationship building. Ability to plan and execute community programs from concept to implementation Comfort using standard technology tools (Email, G‑Suite, etc.) and learning new systems (Salesforce, Monday, Slack, etc.) Strong communication, organization and self‑management skills Flexible Schedule: Availability to facilitate evening and weekend programs based on the needs of partners’ and participants’ varying schedules. Live and work in NYC: Our work requires an in-the-community approach for our impact to be authentic and meaningful. Our city staff live and volunteer in the community in which they work and serve. The person in this role will work many days in the local community or in our Crown Heights or Manhattan offices. Compensation and Benefits Compensation at Repair the World is based on the salary band for the role and cost of living for the location. The starting salary range for this full-time exempt role is $81,000-$92,000 with 5-7 years of experience. Benefits package includes paid time off for service in addition to vacation, sick time, personal days and holidays. Employer covers 100% of full‑time employee’s health premiums (medical/dental/vision) for most plans and 50% for dependents. Additional benefits include, retirement matching, professional development funds, employer‑paid short and long term disability coverage plus access to the Jewish Learning Collaborative and our Economic Access Fund. In addition, employees that have been with Repair for at least six months are eligible for 16 weeks of paid parental leave (pro‑rated for employees with Repair less than 6 months). Position is not included in Repair’s staff union‑represented collective bargaining unit.
