About the Role
The Company is seeking a General Counsel to serve as a senior legal executive, providing comprehensive legal leadership across its commercial, contractual, intellectual property, and regulatory functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for the organization's commercial legal strategy, overseeing all legal activities that support revenue-generating operations, and ensuring the protection and advancement of the company's mission. This role requires a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school, a minimum of 10 years of legal experience, and a strong background in commercial transactions, contract negotiation, and intellectual property. The General Counsel will be a trusted strategic partner to the executive team and the Board of Directors, with a focus on high-stakes decisions involving commercial agreements, brand protection, and governance compliance. Key responsibilities for the General Counsel include serving as the principal legal advisor on commercial and transactional matters, leading the negotiation and review of high-value agreements, and managing the company's intellectual property portfolio. The role also involves advising on regulatory compliance, overseeing risk management, and providing executive and board support. The ideal candidate will have exceptional negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills, and a high degree of professional integrity. Experience in advising nonprofit organizations or mission-driven entities, particularly in the context of Olympic and amateur sports governance, is a plus. The General Counsel will be expected to model the professional standards and commitment to excellence that define the company, and to ensure that legal strategy is fully aligned with organizational priorities and long-term growth objectives.
