2026/2027 - Associate Faculty - Accounting

Associate faculty assignments at Santa Rosa Junior College are part‑time, hourly positions that may be temporary, on‑call or part‑time. Assignments may be immediate or as needed, and are made on a part‑time, hourly basis up to a total of 67 % of a full‑time load. The district does not offer remote‑only assignments. Compensation & Benefits Hourly rate: see the hourly salary schedules or contact HR. Compensation is based on academic background, vocational experience, and teaching experience, with step placement at Step 1 pending evaluation. Compensation for assigned classes is paid over the duration of the assignment. Medical insurance for eligible faculty; see Benefits page for details. Sick leave accrual on a pro‑rated basis; see Article 18 of the AFA Contract. Retirement options: CalSTRS Defined Benefit, CalSTRS Cash Balance, and Social Security; eligibility depends on CalSTRS membership status. Key Duties and Responsibilities Provide instruction and faculty support to students, including evening, weekend, online, hybrid, or off‑campus assignments. Offer academic assistance and related services during scheduled office hours. Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds. Maintain currency in field(s) of expertise. Focus primarily on instruction and/or student services. Typical faculty are not required to participate in district or department service (committee work, evaluations, student learning outcomes assessment, hiring committees), but may be asked for additional compensation. Minimum Qualifications For Accounting: Master’s Degree in Accountancy or Business Administration with Accounting concentration, or Bachelor’s Degree in Business with Accounting emphasis, or Economics with Accounting emphasis plus Master’s Degree in Business, Business Administration, Business Education, Economics, Taxation, Finance, or equivalent. Alternatively, a fully satisfied California Community College Instructor’s Credential in Accounting, Income Tax, Auditing, Comptrollership, Tax Accounting. A CPA license is an alternative qualification. Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications Certified Public Accountant license. Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and anti‑racism. Creative and innovative teaching approaches. Depth of post‑secondary teaching experience, especially with community college students. Experience developing online courses with a focus on student learning. Integration of technology and soft skills in curriculum. Ability to teach a variety of business courses demonstrated by professional experience or prior teaching. Recent and relevant employment in business and/or education.
