JOB DESCRIPTION

The PT Specialist III, Call Center provides student support, processes inbound calls, and acts as the initial point of contact for level 1 support calls. This position works to improve operations and exceed customer expectations. The Call Center receives calls from students, community members, and employees concerning Financial Aid, Admissions, Advising, Business Office/Bursar/payments, and related student needs. The Specialist assists with processes and activities related to student services and records and helps callers with their specific needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Provide general campus information and answer caller questions via phone. Act as first response access point for all students, giving information, direction, and instructions on enrollment, registration, admissions, student records access, and account status. Resolve level 1 calls and escalations for student records support; refer level 2 adjustments and corrections to the Call Center Manager or appropriate staff. Achieve a high level of first‑call resolution. Document and assign issues that must be routed to campus departments or functional teams. Use PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (iStar) student records and the LSC student portal, myLoneStar.edu, and demonstrate technical expertise in student self‑service modules. Respond actively and sensitively to customer issues and inquiries. Participate in training sessions. Perform other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

The work is sedentary and may involve walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS

Use a PC workstation in a LAN-based Windows environment, calculator, phone, and general office equipment. Interface with internal and external contacts as needed. Work in a climate‑controlled office with minimal safety hazards. Schedule varies Monday–Saturday, including evenings, up to 19.5 hours per week.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Some college coursework. Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (iStar) student records. Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

SALARY

Hourly pay rate: $15.60.
