Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Preoperative Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Pre-Op Unit Information Location: Wichita, KS Unit Type: Pre-Op Holding / ASU Number of Beds: 9 Pre-op beds, 5 Phase 2 recovery beds Staffing: 8 full-time RNs (2 open positions), 2 part-time RNs, 4 PRN RNs, 1 unit Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) Day Shift Staffing: Same as above Night Shift Staffing: None Patient Ratios: 1:3 Type of Equipment: Pyxis, GE MACVU EKG machine, Doppler, patient scale, bladder scanner Electronic Medical Record System: Meditech Job Summary The Pre-Op Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support in the Pre-Op Holding unit. The RN will work collaboratively with surgical teams, ensuring efficient patient flow and exceptional communication among staff and healthcare providers. Required Qualifications Minimum 1 year of current acute care Pre-Op RN experience in a hospital setting Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification Preferred Qualifications Experience in Pre-Op settings or capability to assist Pre-Op staff Prior experience with Meditech system Typical Procedures Phase 2 recovery for Urology, GYN, and other Same Day Surgery patients Pre-operative surgical procedures, endoscopy, catheterizations, electrophysiology, and computed tomography (CT) patients Outpatient infusions and EKGs, blocks, and blood transfusions Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will prioritize patient experience and demonstrate excellent communication skills within the team and with healthcare providers. Additional Information Must be available for on-call shifts; a response time of 30 minutes is required. Requirement of 2 – 10-hour on-call shifts every 8 weeks.
