This physician-owned community oncology practice has (4) convenient locations positioned throughout the Lowcountry and is hiring this role to support Lowcountry's vision of Caring for each patient like family by bringing the highest quality and most compassionate cancer care to the Lowcountry.Role SummaryThe Referral Coordinator / Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end referral process, including standard and imaging referrals, while ensuring all supporting clinical documentation is complete, accurate, and properly recorded in the electronic medical record (EMR).In addition, this role provides front desk support as needed to maintain smooth daily operations during periods of high volume, staffing shortages, or call-outs. This position requires adaptability, strong organizational skills, and a team-oriented mindset, as well as the ability to travel between office locations.Responsibilities:Manage and process all outgoing referrals in a timely and accurate mannerCoordinate imaging referrals, including obtaining prior authorizations when requiredCompile and verify all necessary clinical documentation (office notes, labs, imaging, etc.) prior to submissionUpload, organize, and maintain referral documentation within the EMRTrack referral status and follow through to completion to ensure continuity of careCommunicate effectively with external providers, imaging centers, and specialty officesEnsure all referral processes meet compliance and documentation standardsProvide coverage for front desk operations during high-volume periods, staff absences, or operational needsPerform patient check-in and check-out procedures, including verification of demographics and insuranceManage incoming calls, scheduling, and patient inquiriesAssist with patient paperwork and front office documentation requirementsMaintain a professional, efficient, and patient-focused front desk environmentTravel to satellite locations as needed to support staffing and maintain workflow continuityAssist with overall office operations to ensure efficiency across all clinic locationsCollaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support patient care deliveryQualifications /CompetenciesMinimum of 2+ years of experience as a medical front desk receptionist requiredMinimum of 2+ years of experience handling referrals in a healthcare setting requiredExperience working with hospital and specialty portals (e.g., EPIC, HCA, East Cooper, etc.) strongly preferredFamiliarity with insurance requirements, authorizations, and EMR systemsStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to multitask and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsReliable transportation and willingness to travel between locationsThis position is a full-time, 100% on-site role that will be based out of our West Ashley and North Charleston offices.
