Position Summary Anticipates the needs of the surgical team and establishes and maintains the sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room. Reports to the Clinical Director/Administrator. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during the setup of surgical procedures. Assists the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment. Assists the circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment. Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts pre‑operatively and intra‑operatively with the circulating nurse. Retains all specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming source/name of specimen with the surgeon. Uses standard universal precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment. Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment. Qualifications One year experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Able to resolve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures in an operating room. Compensation Salary range: $26.00 – $40.00 per hour.
