About the Organization

Liberty Dogs™ is a premier Service Dog training program whose goal is to empower Veterans with disabilities to lead more independent and fulfilling lives - enhancing their well-being through the unconditional support that Liberty Service Dogs provide. Located on a 27-acre campus, it includes a training facility, dog housing, an administrative and multipurpose building, and accommodations for Veterans staying on campus to train with their Liberty Service Dogs.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Public Relations & Social Media Specialist with at least 5 years of dedicated experience to elevate our brand, tell powerful stories, and expand our reach. In this role, you will lead media relations, drive multi-platform content strategy, and manage community engagement to support our mission of empowering U.S. military Veterans through life-changing Service Dogs.

Key Responsibilities

• Public Relations & Media Strategy: Develop and execute proactive PR campaigns, write press releases, pitch local media, and maintain relationships with public relations agencies, journalists, and military community partners.
• Social Media Management: Lead content creation, strategy, and daily publishing across all major platforms (Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn) to highlight client success stories, event highlights, puppy/dog training milestones, and more.
• Storytelling & Content Creation: Capture high-impact visual and written content, including video reels, feature stories, and Veteran testimonials to drive emotional connection and public support.
• Reputation & Crisis Management: Monitor social brand sentiment, field incoming comments and inquiries, and maintain brand voice across all communications.
• Event & Campaign Support: Oversee media coverage for major events (graduation ceremonies, community and volunteer appreciation events).
• Analytics & Reporting: Track key PR and social metrics (reach, media impressions, engagement rates) and regularly present insights to improve marketing ROI.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in public relations, social media strategy, or corporate communications (non-profit or military-adjacent experience preferred).
• Educations: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field preferred.
  
• Skills: Superior AP-style writing, press release composition, media pitching, and short-form video editing (CapCut, Premiere, or Canva).
• Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of media relations, digital marketing tools, social analytics, and SEO best practices.
• Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence, respectful handling of sensitive Veteran stories, strong public speaking skills, and adaptability.
• Bonus: Personal or professional connection to the military/veteran community or working dog/animal welfare organizations.

Compensation: $70,000 - $85,000
