Job Description

• The Assembler II performs a wide variety of electronic and electro-mechanical assembly operations, building assemblies and sub-assemblies involving pulley and cable systems, machined products, integrated circuits, and wiring. In this role, you assemble products in accordance with established routing times and Operational Method Sheets (OMS) to ensure proper form, fit, and function, while following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintaining high quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble electronic and electro-mechanical products, including sub-assemblies, using pulley and cable systems, machined components, integrated circuits, and wiring in accordance with OMS and established routing times.
• Use basic hand and power tools to perform mechanical and electronic assembly tasks with precision and consistency.
• Read and follow basic written work instructions, SOPs, and process documentation to complete assigned work accurately.
• Ensure products meet form, fit, and function requirements through thorough product inspections and adherence to quality standards.
• Complete required station audits, including Tool Audits, Kanban Health Audits, and Card Audits, to maintain process integrity.
• Capture quality issues, continuous improvement opportunities, and test data/results within the PA Dashboard as needed.
• Process Kanban cards accurately to ensure transactional correctness and proper material flow.
• Confirm that proper quantities of each item are assembled, labeled, and processed at the station.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, consistently upholding 6S principles.
• Perform tool audits at the start and end of work at each station to verify tool availability and condition.
• Monitor Kanban health status and implement or support countermeasures when issues are identified.
• Demonstrate advanced attention to detail and promptly escalate quality issues, defects, or process discrepancies to a Lead or Supervisor.
• Apply an intermediate understanding of the QN (quality notification) process by identifying and submitting quality issues as required.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement activities and proactively identify potential improvement opportunities.
• Identify safety concerns on the production floor and escalate them appropriately to maintain a safe work environment.
• Recognize incorrect or outdated process documentation and propose changes through the redlining process.
• Apply an intermediate understanding of division and department priorities, goals, and metrics, and seek clarification when needed to ensure alignment.
• Incorporate NBS Next principles into day-to-day activities and decision making to support operational excellence.
• Stay current on processes and certifications to sustain proficiency in trained areas and maintain required qualifications.
• Move up and down the production line as needed, willingly accepting other duties as assigned to support resource gaps and operational needs.
• Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills by showing respect for others, understanding different viewpoints, and giving and receiving constructive feedback respectfully.
• Complete all required training in designated systems (such as Master Control and other internal platforms) in a timely manner.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance, and work extended hours outside the regular shift schedule as required by operational demands.
• Lift and handle components and assemblies up to 50 pounds as part of normal production activities.
• Perform advanced assembler responsibilities and provide informal guidance or support to less experienced team members when appropriate.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of assembly experience or manufacturing production experience.
• Proven ability to perform mechanical assembly tasks, including working with electro-mechanical components and wiring.
• Ability to read and follow basic work instructions and SOPs accurately.
• Hands-on experience using basic hand and power tools for assembly work.
• Ability to lift and move items weighing 50 pounds or more safely.
• Basic computer skills with the ability to navigate programs and input data.
• Attention to detail and strong focus on product quality and compliance with specifications.
• Advanced ability to perform the roles and responsibilities of an assembler, demonstrating consistent expertise in trained areas.
• Simple oral communication skills for effective interaction with team members and supervisors.
• Visual acuity and manual dexterity to perform precise assembly and inspection tasks.
• Reliability and willingness to work extended hours, including overtime outside the regular shift schedule, as required by operational needs.
• Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment, including familiarity with fast-paced operations.
• Familiarity with basic hand and power tools commonly used in mechanical and electronic assembly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as an Assembler I or equivalent role in a structured production environment.
• Intermediate understanding of the QN (quality notification) process and ability to identify and submit quality issues.
• Knowledge of Kanban systems, including Kanban card processing and Kanban health monitoring.
• Intermediate understanding of 6S principles and active participation in 6S activities to maintain an organized and efficient workspace.
• Ability to conduct Tool Audits, Kanban Health Audits, and Card Audits to support station readiness and process control.
• Familiarity with Operational Method Sheets (OMS) and routing times for standardized production processes.
• Experience capturing quality issues, continuous improvement ideas, and test data in dashboards or tracking systems.
• Understanding of division and department priorities, goals, and metrics, with the ability to align daily work to these objectives.
• Exposure to NBS Next or similar operational excellence frameworks and ability to apply these principles in daily work.
• Demonstrated engagement in Continuous Improvement initiatives and willingness to propose process enhancements.
• Ability to recognize incorrect process documentation and suggest updates through redlining or similar change processes.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including respect for colleagues, openness to different viewpoints, and constructive communication.
• Willingness to move across different stations and areas on the production line to support team and operational needs.
• Commitment to ongoing learning, innovation, and adapting positively to changes in operations, processes, and division priorities.

Work Environment

• This position is based in a fast-paced manufacturing environment within a brand-new, very clean facility featuring a large, well-ventilated production floor. All production associates wear smocks and safety glasses provided on-site as part of the standard dress code and safety requirements. Each new employee receives a locker to secure personal belongings during the shift. The regular schedule is a 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with overtime available after the shift and on weekends as operational needs require. New hires will train for approximately one month on 1st shift hours before transitioning to the 2nd shift. The work involves standing, moving along the production line, and lifting up to 50 pounds while using basic hand and power tools in a structured, well-documented assembly process.

Shift, 2nd shift, 1:00pm-9:30pm, Monday-Friday + OT (after shift and weekends). Will train for a month during 1st shift hours

This is a Contract position based out of Carlsbad, CA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
