This role will support a fast-paced project through consulting, design, review, and field oversight activities at a large facility in Phoenix, AZ. The position requires technical depth, sound judgment, and the ability to interface effectively with clients.This role is responsible for the design, evaluation, and consulting of fire alarm and mass notification systems across a variety of project types. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards, and the ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, Consulting, and Technical OversightLead and execute fire alarm and/or mass notification system design from concept through construction, including system layouts, device placement, riser diagrams, sequences of operation, and calculations (battery, voltage drop, etc.).Develop detailed, code-compliant fire alarm drawings, including shop drawings, specifications, and technical reports using REVIT, AutoCAD, and/or similar design industry tools.Review architectural and engineering drawings to ensure life safety and fire code compliance.Project Execution and Field ActivitiesAct as the owner’s representative for fire alarm systems during design, construction, and commissioning phases.Conduct site assessments and field surveys to evaluate existing conditions and fire alarm installations.Prepare and review design, shop drawing, and construction submittals for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.Support testing, commissioning, and acceptance activities, including preparation of test plans, witnessing tests, and documenting results.Client, Contractor, and Team CoordinationCoordinate and collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), and internal project teams.Interface directly with clients to communicate technical findings, recommendations, and project status.Manage technical aspects of projects, including schedules, workload planning, and adherence to approved scopes of work.Quality, Compliance, and LeadershipStay current on applicable codes, standards, and emerging technologies (e.g., NFPA 72, NFPA 70, IBC).Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, including support for NICET development and training.Minimum RequirementsProgressive experience in fire alarm system design, consulting, or inspectionProficiency with AutoCAD, or other industry design softwarePreferred QualificationsNICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems; NICET Level II or higher is strongly desiredREVIT strongly desiredProficiency with ASPIRE softwareStrong working knowledge of NFPA codes, life safety standards, and local jurisdictional requirementsExperience with mass notification systems and integrated life safety solutionsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technically sound design strategiesStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting client and schedule commitmentsAdditional ConsiderationsCandidates with significant industry experience in fire alarm system design, inspection, or code consulting are desired.Relocation Assistance Provided#LI-VM1Jensen Hughes is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
