Speech Language Pathologist - IRP

The Ohio State University's University Hospital | Inpatient Rehabilitation Administration is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist. The rehabilitation team members are licensed or certified professionals who work within a specific team structure to offer inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation services. These services are offered to the acute-care hospital, the acute inpatient rehabilitation facility (Dodd Hall), or outpatient service sites to patients who have disorders and conditions associated primarily with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, or other neurogenic disorders, orthopedic problems, burns, amputations, or chronic pain.

The Speech Language Pathologist will also provide specialized treatments to help the patient explore and identify productive avocational interests. Treatments include assessment of interests, introduction to various methods used to explore resources post discharge (use of the internet, identification of local organizations, methods to inquire about resources), exposure to local organizations, and education material to maximize patient post discharge planning. The PT is expected to be the contact for the community link and be a liaison for patients/staff/consumers of Rehabilitation Services.

Minimum Qualifications: All rehabilitation team members must be licensed and/or certified with the respective profession (physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language pathology, social work, or therapeutic recreation), and meet the educational and/or certification requirements established by their professions (social workers and speech/language pathologists must hold master's degrees, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and therapeutic recreational specialists must hold bachelor's degrees). All academic degrees must have been granted from an accredited institution. Speech pathologists must hold a license in the State of Ohio, and a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC/SLP). Those completing a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY/SLP) may be considered. All licensed professionals must be cleared through the National Database of Practitioners. Typically, one-two years experience working in a medical setting is preferred for all professionals hired.
